Chapter 31
VALERIA’S POV
The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the training field as I arrived early, eager to show Elijah that I was ready. Today marked the beginning of a new chapter—a chapter where I would stop doubting myself and embrace the abilities bestowed upon me.
But as the minutes passed and Elijah failed to appear, a sense of unease crept over me. The field was eerily quiet, save for the rustling of leaves in the breeze. I decided to search for him, but before I could start, a young pack member came running toward me, his face pale and voice trembling.
“They were attacked in the forest last night,” he said breathlessly. “Two of our pack members. They’re in bad shape.”
My stomach dropped. Without another word, I sprinted toward the healer’s house. As I neared, I could hear the muffled cries of pack members and murmured prayers to the Moon Goddess. The air was thick with tension and grief, and my heart clenched.
