Chapter 94: A FRIENDLY BOND
"Thank you for helping me," Xina said cheerfully as she ended the call, then promptly hugged both Mary and Ann. The sudden affection startled them, but they carefully hugged her back.
Despite their gentleness, they were zamuda shifters and naturally much stronger than Xina. Yet, such a gesture wasn't common either, especially toward their luna.
Both women were taken aback. Someone of Xina's status typically wouldn’t treat them with such familiarity. However, beneath the surface of their surprise, they felt elated that their Luna viewed them as friends. It was unheard of for a leader not to keep their subjects at a distance.
"Luna, you shouldn't hug us like this in front of Sullivan," Mary said gently, as they made their way back to Xina's bedroom. The space felt hollow and too large without Gary beside her. The bed itself seemed oversized when she was alone in it.
"Why?" Xina asked, genuinely puzzled. She saw no harm in casually hugging them.
Mary and Ann exchanged a quick glance
