Gary’s thoughts were a whirlwind of panic and frustration as he paced back and forth in his study. The information he'd received was vague and unsettling—Xina was missing. She had entered his office earlier with Gillian, but since then, no one had seen her. The last trace of her presence was a lingering scent that tormented him, fueling the dark thoughts swirling in his mind.
"I’ll send every zamuda to search for her," Canan said, his voice low but steady as he wiped away the blood dripping from his face. His wounds were healing rapidly, but the concern for their Luna gnawed at him. "But you should know—she’s not alone. Gillian and Archer are with her. They’ve disappeared as well."
Gary barely acknowledged Canan’s words, his mind elsewhere. His eyes were fixed on the bird statue standing on the mantelpiece, cold and still, yet somehow so alive with the weight of what it represented. He knew the answer to the riddle that had plagued him since Xina went missing.
