"Who is that man?" Stefan asked, disbelief coloring his voice. He couldn’t wrap his head around what he was seeing. How could Xina live in a place like this? And Gaia’s earlier speculation seemed completely off the mark—Xina was clearly not just some maid here.
"You mean *my* man?" Xina’s eyes sparkled at the mention of 'her man,' her thoughts drifting immediately to Gary. A smile tugged at her lips. "Don’t bother yourself with it. After today, we won’t cross paths again."
"Xina, I know you…" Stefan’s voice faltered. The thought of never seeing her again filled him with an inexplicable unease. He couldn’t pinpoint why, but something about the finality of it disturbed him deeply.
"No, you don’t." Xina cut him off, her tone light but firm. There was no anxiety in her voice, no hint of hesitation. She looked him squarely in the eyes with a calm that unnerved him. "You don’t know me, Stefan. Not at all."
