Chapter 19 SAVOR THE MOMENT, MY DEAR
"I love seafood?" Xina leaned back in her chair, her eyes narrowing as she glared at Gaia. "I really do try to see the best in you, but you make it so damn difficult."
Xina knew better than anyone that she had a severe seafood allergy. The idea that she loved it was absurd. She remembered the time she accidentally ate fish at a family gathering and had to be rushed to the hospital in the middle of a relative's birthday party. Surely, everyone in the family remembered that incident.
"Xina! Watch your language!" Greg snapped at her, more concerned with her choice of words than the fact that his daughter had deliberately ordered something Xina couldn’t eat. "You can eat it or leave it. Stop causing trouble."
Xina felt her eyes sting with tears she refused to shed. She thought she had numbed herself to the constant unfair treatment, but being scolded in front of the entire family, while her mother remained engrossed in her own meal, hurt more than she wanted to admit.
