Chapter 162: ANOTHER DREAM, A FAMILIAR NIGHTMARE
Elsa stared at Edward, concern clouding her dull, gray eyes. “Don’t become too attached to that child like before,” she murmured, her voice thick with resentment. The memory of what happened in the past haunted her deeply. What that unborn child could do, the damage it could bring, loomed over her, darkening her every thought.
Edward met her gaze, understanding the gravity of her words. He wouldn't repeat the same mistakes. Not this time. "I'll take care of it," he promised solemnly. "This time, it will be different."
But Elsa, ever distrustful, remained unconvinced. She rose from where she sat and cupped his face in her scarred, scalded hands. Despite her disfigured appearance, Edward didn’t flinch. He never did. "Remember," she whispered fiercely, "that woman is not me. I am here. Don't confuse her for me."
Edward nodded, his voice soft and reassuring. "I know. She’s not you." He gazed into her lone, gray eye, the fire in his golden eyes steady. "I won’t make that mistake again."
