Just like the complicated relationship between the zamuda and the centaurs, the liaison between the zamuda and the vampires—known as the opio—was equally intricate. There was a long, bloody history between the two kinds, stretching back centuries, until a fragile peace treaty was signed. But peace didn't necessarily mean harmony. In fact, their coexistence felt more like the quiet before an inevitable storm.
The opio required access to the human world, as some of their kin resided there, similar to how the zamuda shifted between realms. But recently, Gary, the zamuda king, had issued a stern warning to the opio: they were no longer welcome to pass through his territory without explicit permission, in both realms.
This decision had rocked the opio, restricting their movement significantly, as the zamuda territories were much larger. They had once been free to roam, only avoiding the palace grounds. Now, their freedom was curtailed. Gary’s decree was unprecedented.
