CHAPTER THIRTY – CALLING BACK HOME
Over the next few weeks, Karina and Sarah worked tirelessly, using every spare moment to pore over documents, emails, and security footage. They created a timeline of events leading up to the leak, cross-referencing it with employee schedules and access logs.
Their efforts didn't go unnoticed. Miguel watched their collaboration with growing suspicion, his eyes narrowing every time he saw them huddled together over a computer screen or whispering in the break room.
One evening, as the office emptied out, Miguel found himself alone in his office, the weight of recent events pressing down on him. On impulse, he picked up his phone and dialed a familiar number.
"Hola, sobrino," his aunt's warm voice answered after a few rings. "¿Cómo estás?"
Miguel sighed, switching to Spanish as he always did when talking to his aunt. "I'm... struggling, Tía Rosa. Things at work are... complicated."
"Ah, mi querido," Rosa's voice softened with concern. "Tell me what's troubling you."
