Chapter 13
Seconds later the secretary knocked on his door.
"Come in,"
The secretary entered, curtsied in greeting
"Who was that lady with Daniel Spencer today?" He asked without preamble
"Miss Mitchell Browne sir" She answered
"I know her name but I want every other information you can gather about her in a matter of minutes," Michael said to his secretary before dismissing her.
Twenty minutes later, his secretary was back with a dossier on Miss Mitchell Browne.
"You can leave," he said after waving her to drop the dossier on his desk.
Michael adjusted comfortably on his seat, loosened a few buttons of his shirt, and rolled up his shirt sleeves. He needs to be relaxed before perusing through the dossier his secretary brought in on Mitchell Browne. Ten minutes later, he knew almost enough about her.
His secretary was the best, he knew but has never admitted to that, he paid his employees well so he expected high quality of efficiency.
"CEO of Zubal Company" He muses to himself. He wasn t expecting that. That was one big company, how come they haven t met? But then she s only been CEO for a few months so it was possible they wouldn t have met yet. The information about her had said she was going to be thirty in three months. Well, she certainly doesn t look a day older than twenty-five. But how had she risen to that position early in life?
"She was smart and beautiful" He concluded, "But damn, if he wanted to find out attaining that position had anything to do with her beauty other than her intelligence and smartness.
Michael put the dossier aside, remembering how her hand had felt in his during the handshake. He had felt his pulse-raising, just a brief touch and it had his male hormone ricocheting. Thankfully she had withdrawn her hand just before he did something stupid like kiss her which was exactly what he should have done. He couldn t remember the last time a woman s touch almost made him defy all logic and manners.
And Mitchell s touch almost had him doing that today.
Michael let out a long slow frustrated sigh, if just touching her did things to him he wondered what kissing her would do. She had a perfectly shaped lip. They looked soft, lovely, and very inviting.
And he was sure without a doubt they would taste just as lovely and tantalizing under his lips.
'He wanted to find out"
"He wanted to kiss her"
"He wanted more than just kiss her" He realized
He wanted to possess her. Make her his mistress.
Michael ran a hand through his hair, why was he suddenly feeling like a sex-starved male, he could certainly have his pick of beautiful women, more beautiful ones than Mitchell. Women who live and dress up to his taste. Women who would never question his authority, but somehow, he didn t find them appealing to him anymore. He wanted only Mitchell.
Innocent brown eyes angelic Mitchell.
He ran his hand through his hair
"What is it about this woman, awakening the celibate part of him?" he had never been this affected by a woman before. Never. And what s worse, it happened to be someone who had dented his ego in the presence of his employees. Michael knew without a doubt that the news could have circulated the company and it would certainly find its way to his other chain of companies. How a mysterious lady made their formidable chairman apologize to his staff. His receptionists and some bunch of officers for that matter. His face broke into a smile at the thought of that.
It sounded incredible.
He never would have thought it possible that a lady could make him apologize, no lady has ever stood up to him, none ever questioned his authority or told him how to behave except his grandmother. But something in Mitchell s face and tone had made him apologize, perhaps it was the fact that she was daring enough that had.
At six feet five inches, he always stood tall above others and that alone gave him an intimidating appearance even when he wasn t trying.
He stood up to refill his cup, he knew he needed something harder than what he was taking and probably a cold bath to get Mitchell out of his head. His bloodstream.
He had been celibate for a year now, his choice not for lack of women, he had enough thrown themselves at him. Michael had never been a fan of commitment and happily ever after and he made sure he let all his mistresses understand this right from the beginning. He was always the one to walk away the moment his woman starts to hint at the "M" word. He had no remorse for leaving but something told him, Mitchell wasn t the type he could just walk away from after satisfying himself. Still, marriage and commitment weren t in his book, both were poison for him. His freedom is something he cannot compromise for some stupid emotions called love. In his book, love just doesn t exist and he had always made sure that even when he was in the throes of passion not to make any stupid promises.
But that wasn t to say he doesn t satisfy his women. He spends too much. Money had never been a problem and time wasn t. Commitment was. And that was why he had ended the relationship with his last girlfriend, Anabel Baxter, the moment she started hinting at marriage. Luckily for her, she found herself a man to fulfill her dream of happily ever after barely four months of ending their relationship. Michael had wondered if there was a possibility of her cheating on him while they were still together but she had denied and said no. What does it matter, they were after all, no longer together and he had been the one to call it off.
