CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE BRIDGING IN
The waiting room of the doctor's office was a sea of muted colors and uncomfortable chairs, the air heavy with the scent of antiseptic and nervous anticipation. Hana Lee sat in one of those chairs, her leg bouncing anxiously as she glanced at her watch for what felt like the hundredth time. Luke Green was late again, and she couldn't help but feel a twinge of irritation at his tardiness.
As she waited, her mind wandered to Luke and what he could be doing that was more important than their doctor's appointment. They were here to see their baby for the first time, to hear its heartbeat and see its tiny form on the ultrasound screen. It was a momentous occasion, one that Hana had been looking forward to for weeks, and she couldn't understand why Luke couldn't be bothered to show up on time.
