The escape
The car drove for a few more minutes but to Scarlett, those minutes felt like an eternity. She was now certain that they were out of the city. It would be difficult for the police to trace her whereabouts when they’d finally know about her disappearance. As expected, she would have to be her own hero if she wanted to survive out there, in the wilderness.
The car came to an abrupt stop after many twists and turns on rocky hills. Scarlett wasn’t feeling too well. She had a severe case of motion sickness and being in that car really made her want to puke her insides out.
When the car stopped, the man next to her moved to open the door. The driver she knew was named Stan asked if she was still unconscious and the other man said yes.
“I might have hit her too hard with my elbow.” He let out a stupid laugh.
“You didn’t kill her, did you?”
“Oh no. She still breathes. Let’s get her out of here.”
