Mae walked slowly, meandering toward the Mountain Pack entrance. She wanted so badly to be home with Henry, have him hold her, and comfort her, but she needed more time to think. She had wanted the truth, but she never expected the truth would be… so much. She continued to process all that her grandmother had told her, thinking about the truth of her parents' situation.
Mae twirled the necklace she was wearing in her fingers. A 'talisman' her grandmother had called it, for protection. It didn't seem special or significant, but she trusted her grandmother more than almost anyone now. The only person it seemed, besides Henry, who was willing to tell her the truth.
Mae finally straggled up toward the entrance of the Mountain Pack and saw the familiar guards waiting to welcome her.
