"Because I know that you're happier and freer now than you ever were before," Esther said. Aaron didn't sense a hint of pretense when she said that. "You never had true autonomy back in Butterfield Group. You were always living for others. But now, you can finally do what you want." Aaron stared at her in surprise. "Esther, you've really changed." "People change," she said with a small smile. "Especially after going through pain and loss." As she saw Aaron to the door, Esther asked, "How is Sierra with you?" Aaron paused for a moment. "She's great. She's an excellent boss and friend." "Just a friend?" Esther asked softly. Why were both women asking the same thing?
