Chapter 22

Nina was initially standing by the window, staring blankly downstairs. Then, at that moment, Shane suddenly looked up. Those sharp and cold eyes of his shot in her direction. Nina's heart jolted, and she instinctively took a sharp step back. The chair fell with a bang. The chair behind her toppled over from the impact, but she had no time to care. With her heart pounding, she lightly pressed a hand on her chest, silently praying that Shane had not noticed her standing there. With the Smiths here, every member of the Lawson family was gathered in the living hall, leaving Nina's side eerily quiet at the moment. Once again, she contacted Lisette to ask about the travel documents. Nina could hear Lisette's frustration and guilt through the phone. "I'm really sorry, Nina." Lisette sounded really torn and down. "I managed to find someone, and we've met as well. Who knew that my grandpa would show up there? He intercepted and had even grounded me." When Nina heard this, she was shock
