For the first time, Celeste truly felt fear grip her heart.
She tried to back away, her body instinctively retreating, but there was no escape from Silas’s knife as it hovered dangerously close.
“The child...” she stammered, her voice trembling.
Silas sneered, and he regarded her with contempt. “Scarlett, really? You, of all people, get worked up over a child? You know it’s just a burden, right? Why not let me do you a favor and take care of it for you?”
“No!” Celeste’s scream pierced the air, her eyes wide with terror. Desperately, she locked eyes with Silas, her confidence crumbling. “Please! I’ll do whatever you want! I’ll even tell you where the stash is—right now!”
Silas paused, his grip on the knife loosening slightly as he considered her offer. Slowly, he pulled the knife away, watching her with a cruel smile as a thin line of blood seeped through her clothes.
