Chapter 22
The sky slowly brightened over the chapel in the mountains, but the fog grew thicker. It mingled with the mist and covered the path.
Clementine and Jason made their way up the stone steps leading to the chapel. A bell tolled in the distance. The sound echoed down the mountain.
Towering trees surrounded the chapel, and the stone floors were covered in moss. The wind blew the leaves from the trees, which rustled as they danced. Wind chimes tinkled in harmony with the surroundings.
Clementine took a deep breath and sat on a stone bench as she watched Jason roam around curiously like a child. He looked at everything he found interesting. It was supposed to be a serene moment, but Cameron ruined that with his presence. The first thing she thought when she saw him was that he was a nuisance.
"Can we talk, Clementine?" he asked. Perhaps Ivy's words had gotten through to him yesterday and made him realize he was being too rash.
Clementine didn't want to talk to him, but she wondered wheth
