The following weekend, I didn't go to work at the restaurant. Thanks to Lyla's cousin, the restaurant compensated me, and I quickly located Leah in the surveillance footage.
A little later, Lyla ran over to me with her phone. "Look, Eve," she said.
I took the phone from her and scrolled through the file about the fat man. As I did, Lyla explained, "Ryan mentioned that this guy isn't from Napel and doesn't come from any wealthy family. He thinks the man probably snuck into the restaurant from somewhere else."
Everything finally made sense. Why had I seen Leah at the restaurant? And why would such a high-end establishment ignore an employee being harassed instead of stopping it immediately?
