29. A Stranger in the Night
Susan and Tyler dedicated the rest of the day to some quality bonding, with Susan persistently expressing her concerns while I continued to offer heartfelt apologies.
On the other hand, the guys were engrossed in video games, and it felt like they'd been at it forever. Before we knew it, the day had slipped away, and it was time for them to bid their farewells.
Jacob and I found ourselves alone again, and we decided to make the most of it by watching a movie together. Jacob, in an attempt to tease me, put on a horror movie, thinking he'd have me jumping out of my seat.
Jacob grinned, selecting a scary movie. "Let's see if you can handle this one, Jennie."
I raised an eyebrow, not one to back down from a challenge. "Oh, I love horror movies. You're the one who'll be screaming."
As the movie unfolded, I couldn't help but notice Jacob growing increasingly tense. He clutched a pillow to his chest, and I couldn't resist a playful jab.
