When Viennel got home, she wasn’t as happy as she had imagined. Seeing those grieving people had left her deeply saddened. No one wants to lose their loved ones, and no amount of money could heal that pain.
"You’re back," Gina said, hobbling over with her crutch. "How did it go? Did they let you resign?"
Viennel managed a small smile. "I demanded Ron compensate the victims' families in the lobby. He hates me now, so of course, he agreed to my resignation. He didn’t pay me my salary, but I don’t care. I probably owed more in penalties than I earned."
Gina nodded. "That’s good. I thought they might give you a hard time."
"No, they didn’t." Viennel sat on the couch, feeling down. There was still an important task left undone.
Even though the manufacturers had been caught, many toxic candies were still circulating. Some buyers might not even know they were toxic. What if someone accidentally ate them? And what about those already poisoned? Were they just waiting to die in the hospital
