Sabrina sat up and saw Nelson talking to Martin at the doorway. From her angle, his tall, straight figure seemed especially striking.
Out in the courtyard, people were starting to gather. Sabrina crawled out of the tent.
The villagers from next door had come bringing food.
Nelson noticed her limping, and when he lifted her pant leg, he saw that the bandage around her wound was soaked with blood.
Martin approached Sabrina and explained that he and Nelson had already discussed it—she needed to leave first.
The road was still impassable, and the elderly and children would likely have to be carried down and relocated.
Sabrina agreed. She was injured and couldn't do much to help. If her leg wasn't treated soon, it could become a serious problem.
Nelson carried Sabrina on his back down the mountain, her hiking pack hanging off his shoulder. As she rested against him, she found herself at a loss for words.
