Chapter 160 - Shadows of Death
With his muscular legs propelling him quickly across the rough ground, Damien prowled through the dense underbrush.
The air was filled with the smell of dirt and pine, and the night was heavy with shadows. He was getting close to his cave, his safe haven where he could plan his next move when the outside world got too much for him.
But he had a strange feeling tonight. His survival and combat-tested instincts prompted him to remain vigilant.
He approached the cave's mouth at a slower pace, his senses sharpened. He was going to cross the threshold when all of a sudden, a burst of air passed by, throwing him off balance.
He stumbled and immediately caught his balance, but the impact had gone.
With a growl, Damien's gaze raced across the woods. Though he was blind, he sensed that someone or something was observing him.
Baring his teeth, he studied the darkness, a growl deep in his throat. Then he was sent falling as another gust of wind struck him out of nowhere.
