Another memory came rushing back, this one even funnier than the last. It was the time Javion had decided he was going to teach me how to fish.
Now, I wasn’t exactly the outdoorsy type, but Javion loved nature, so I figured, why not? It couldn’t be that hard, right?
Wrong.
We’d gone out to this little lake he knew about, tucked away in the woods, a place he said was perfect for fishing.
He was so excited, practically bouncing around as he set up our gear. I tried to look interested, nodding along as he explained the basics, but
I was more focused on the way his eyes lit up when he talked about it. That was enough to make me at least try to enjoy it.
“All right, first things first,” he said, holding up a squirming worm. “You’ve got to bait the hook.”
I stared at the worm, then at the hook, then back at the worm. “You want me to do what with that?”
