DAPHNE'S POV
The memory brought fresh tears to my eyes. I had loved him with every fiber of my being, trusted him completely.
And he had shattered that trust when he spared the life of the one who had taken our son. The anger I felt toward him was justified, but it was tangled with the love that refused to die, no matter how much I wished it would.
"I wish things were different," I confessed to the quiet night. "I wish we could go back to the way things were before."
I closed my eyes, letting the memories wash over me. I remembered the way he used to hold me, his arms a haven of warmth and security.
I remembered the way he would whisper sweet nothings in my ear, making me laugh and blush. I remembered the way he had looked at me when our son was born, his eyes filled with awe and love.
