Daphne's POV
I could barely see through my tears, but the anger and pain inside me were a roaring fire. I turned on Javion, my voice shaking with rage. “How could you let this happen, Javion? Our son is missing because of you!”
Javion tried to reach out, his face stricken. “Daphne, I’m sorry. I never thought—”
“Never thought?” I interrupted, my voice rising. “Of course, you didn’t think! You never think when it comes to our safety. You just want to be the merciful, forgiving alpha. And now, look where it’s gotten us!”
He stepped back, looking as if I had physically struck him.
“Mercy?” I spat the word out like it was poison. “Your mercy has put our son in danger! You should have listened to me. Saxera never should have been allowed back.”
