Chapter 2
Joanna shook his head, "President Li just said to do his best, but I feel hopeless."
Henry Mo's eyes dimmed a little when he heard her words. He picked up the tea cup and licked his chapped lips. After a long silence, he said slightly hoarsely, "Dear, otherwise you can go to Richie. They are still our family in-laws—"
"Father!"
Joanna raised her voice and interrupted him, "It's impossible for me to ask him for help."
After she finished speaking, the whole living room went silent, until a shrill female voice suddenly came upstairs.
"Who else will help us now, besides the Gu's family? Joanna, you’re so selfish as someone from the Mo family. When you were a child, how much do you think your father had treated you? Now, he’s so devastated for Mo company and you’re still thinking of your own. Do you have to wait for company’s bankruptcy to be satisfied!"
"Shut up!" Joanna roared.
Joanna's face was ugly, and her eyes stared coldly at the middle-aged woman who came from upstairs, "You have no place to say what’s right and wrong. Casey!"
Casey He's eyes widened as the girls in her arms, Remy Xuan wanted to cry, "Mr. Mo, I am all for the Mo family. But now that this is the situation, you must have known, except for the Gu family, no one else can help us. Tell Richie to go meet Joanna. It’ll e over in minutes. You say I’m in no place to say what’s right or not, if it weren’t that time—"
"Enough!"
Henry interrupted them. He twisted his eyebrows and took a deep breath. He turned his head to his daughter and spoke, "Dear, I beg you, Dad, the Mo family must not be destroyed by your hands."
Joanna's breathing felt like it stopped. The color on her face faded. And she stood there for a long time without speaking.
She forgot what happened afterwards. When she regained her senses, she was already sitting in her bedroom.
Her room was clean that even the furniture had a shine on them. And her clothes in the closet were neatly stacked.
On the other side if it was an almost empty space with only two change of clothes hung up.
She was at a loss to find that there was almost no trace of him in this home.
For three whole years, she thought she was used to it, but today she felt more fragile that she would cry.
This continued on until the door downstairs suddenly rang. Joanna was taken aback as she wiped the corners of his eyes and ran out to answer it.
Richie was changing his shoes downstairs, and heard her steps without raising looking at her.
Joanna was a little at a loss. She squeezed her hands tightly, her pale lips moved lightly, and asked in a low voice, "Why are you back?"
She had such a little hope in her heart while being extra cautious.
"It’s Friday today."
Richie walked over with sarcasm in his eyes as Joanna paled with that single sentence.
Yes, she almost forgot, how could he come back if it wasn't for the Friday's routine.
Joanna pulled the corners of her lips hard, picked up her jacket, and was about to go out.
"Where are you going?"
Richie frowned slightly when he saw her next action.
"I’ve been busy this past few days. I forgot to order food so I’ll go out to buy some."
Saying that people have already reached the hallway.
"Do you really think I came back for dinner?"
Richie replied back in a mocking tone. Joanna paused slightly with her hand of the doorknob before saying, "I'll be back soon."
After going out, her depressed feeling dissipated a little.
The news about their company had almost dominated the headlines for the past few months, but she has never spoken about it to Richie.
She knew that Richie was also waiting, waiting for her to speak. She could even guess what he would offer.
He knew all her weaknesses, a knife that would inevitably be struck her hood. And it made her unhappy.
In fact, it's not that she was just in pain now. It has been going on for three years. And quite frankly she has gone numb. Even if it was marriage without love, it still took a toll on her. And day by day it continues to consume her...
A car suddenly appeared at the corner in front, Joanna's expression changed, and she hurriedly stepped on the brakes, but she was still a step late.
A loud "bang" resounded in tandem with the collision.
Her head knocked on the glass, making Joanna muddled.
She rubbed her forehead and looked up to see that the front of an Aston Martin had been slammed by her car.
A man got off the car with a stern expression. Joanna suddenly panicked inside and backed the car abruptly, She then turned the car away and disappeared.
The man under the car looked at the fleeing perpetrator in astonishment, and it took him a long time to recover.
He pulled the door and got into the car. He turned to look at the man sitting behind and said, "Please, wait a minute, the traffic police will come over to deal with this accident in a while. The girl was really weird. There are surveillance everywhere. And she dared to hit us and escape. Was she stupid?"
The man in the back seat raised his hand to look at his watch, and said in a deep voice, "It's too late. Contact a lawyer. Let's go to the company first."
"And drive on this broken car?"
