CHAPTER 23
As soon as I left Connor's apartment, I tried Zed's line again and cussed under my breath when he did not pick up. Before I could try again, a car that I recognized stopped right in front of me and the driver's window rolled down.
"Where to, baby?" Zed flashed his teeth at me, a silly boyish handsomeness on his face.
I ignored his cheesy line and got in the car, sitting in the front seat beside him.
"What took you so long?" I asked, strapping my seat belt.
"Had to get a few things done before I left the office."
"Whatever. Drive."
His brows raised in confusion.
"Drive...where?"
I pasted the brightest, fakest smile on my face and looked at him now. The type he knew I used whenever I wanted to be a pest in his life.
"Oh, no, christ!" He was close to tears now, probably regretting why he did not ditch my calls in the first place.
"Take me to the best Asian restaurant in the neighbourhood."
