CHAPTER TWENTY TWO – MESSED UP ON THE FIRST DAY
She made her way to Dr. Green's office, her mind racing. Had she done something wrong already?
Dr. Green was sitting behind her desk, a stern expression on her face. "Ms. Keppler, please sit down."
Joan perched on the edge of the chair, trying to keep her nerves in check. "Is everything alright, Dr. Green?"
The older woman fixed her with a piercing gaze. "I understand you assisted Maria with a crisis intake this morning."
Joan nodded. "Yes, I did. At least, I tried to help."
Dr. Green's frown deepened. "And did you, at any point, think to double-check the form you handed her?"
A cold feeling of dread washed over Joan. "I... I'm not sure I understand."
Dr. Green held up a piece of paper. "This is a catering order form, Ms. Keppler. Not a crisis intake form."
Joan's face burned with embarrassment. "Oh no, I'm so sorry. I was flustered and—"
"Flustered is not an excuse," Dr. Green cut her off. "In this line of work, a simple mistake like this could have serious consequences. What
