Chapter 1964
"What's going on? It smells so bad." I covered my nose and mouth.
The stench of blood was overwhelming. Mixing with the salty breeze rolling in from the sea, it was suffocating—like walking straight into a slaughterhouse.
"Something's off," Cyrus muttered after noticing the eeriness.
"Mrs. Spencer! They killed so many of our men!"
The lead bodyguard's expression was grim. "These were our friends who fought beside us for years! The Lucent… those bastards are animals!"
Bodies littered West Dock, motionless and soaked in crimson.
Mom swallowed down the emotion threatened to rise and said, "Where are the police?"
"They're on their way!"
Another guard added, "By the time I got here, our men were already down. Does The Lucent think they can just do whatever the hell they want in Seathburn City?"
Mr. Foster frowned. "Something's not right. Why go this far just to send a message?"
"This is bad!"
Suddenly, Mom was struck with realization. She immediately lifted her hands. "Run!"
