Chapter 6: Wash It Clean

Chace remained silent. On this day, he spoke three times more than usual. He wasn't a talkative man, and this woman pushed him to his limit. Soon, Gina came out. Chace grabbed Olivia's arm and led her inside. Olivia complained, "If you don't know how to take care of someone who doesn't feel well, can you at least loosen your grip? It'll be even harder for me to walk like this." She didn't expect Chace to be tender and considerate, but could he please respect her a little? "You talk too much." Chace suddenly lifted her up. Olivia was speechless. What she said proved to be useless. Gina pushed open the door to the private room. Chace carried Olivia inside, and Olivia smelled the faint scent of disinfectant. "What's this?" "When Mr. Baker was young, he was in poor health. So we have to take extra precautions when eating outside," Gina explained. Seriously? "What about occasions like today?" Olivia sat on a chair. "I won't eat or drink," Chace replied. Olivia clasped her hands together, greatly admiring him. However, she learned one thing that he was in poor health when he was young. She kept it in mind. The meal was served quickly. It was obvious that Chace was a regular customer at this restaurant. After all, the manager personally attended to him. Throughout the meal, Chace hardly said a word. It was Gina who handled everything. Once the dishes were served, irrelevant people left the room. Chace's dark eyes carried a hint of indifference as he said, "Aren't you supposed to have a live demonstration of swallowing a cow?" Olivia rolled her eyes at him and picked up her fork to start eating. Recently, she really had no appetite. Her low blood sugar was not a new problem. She hadn't eaten all day today. But in the previous few days, she didn't eat much either. Because there were too many things going on, she didn't have much of an appetite. But today, after learning so much, she felt like there was a beast inside her. She wanted to feed this wild beast inside her and then fiercely tear apart those despicable enemies! As Olivia ate, tears welled up in her eyes. She cried while eating, finally releasing all the accumulated grievances at this moment. Yet, she didn't stop eating and wailing. She didn't want Chace to look down on her. However, the tears just kept falling down her cheeks uncontrollably, and she couldn't help it. Gina sat across from Olivia, her eyes showing a hint of sympathy. Chace took out a handkerchief and helped Olivia wipe away her tears. Olivia looked at him with surprise. Chace threw the handkerchief and said, "Wash it for me." Words failed Olivia. Her slightly good impression of Chace disappeared instantly. Olivia had a full meal. And she also calmed down. She took out her phone and sent a message to Brady, asking him to investigate Melvin's recent activities. Chace frowned. "Who are you contacting again?" He took Olivia's phone and glanced at it. "Give it back to me. It's my privacy!" Olivia said anxiously. Chace threw the phone at her and said, "The development of the old town in Southmere is about to begin. Many companies are scrambling to have a share in it. Several companies have already joined forces to prepare for bidding. The Conley family is one of them. Their target is the old thermoelectric power plant. They want to turn it into a shopping mall." Olivia paused and said, "You know a lot." "It's just you know too little," Chace sarcastically remarked. "And your people are not capable enough." "It's none of your business!" Olivia asked Brady to investigate whether what Chace said was true or not. She was thinking about how to crush the Conley family's plan. "You can go out," Chace said to Gina. Gina immediately got up and left. Olivia looked at him with a side glance and asked, "What do you want to say, Mr. Baker?" "Tomorrow, I'm going to Swyndale and will be back in two days," Chace said with a meaningful look. "Two days later, I want a detailed development report for the Hampton Group in the coming six months. Got it?" Just this? "Alright." Olivia nodded. "When you come back, I will definitely send it to you." "No need." Chace stood up. "I will personally come find you." Olivia paused. "And also." Chace's eyes carried a gloomy warning. "Don't flirt with other men." Olivia frowned, about to speak. Chace added, "Think properly these next two days. Be clear-headed." With that, he turned and left. Olivia looked utterly speechless. Why couldn't she understand what he said? Looking at the handkerchief placed in front of her, she furrowed her brows slightly. She was completely bewildered by this man. ... The next day. Olivia went to the company. Brady came to her with the investigation materials. "Miss Hampton, what Mr. Baker said is true. The Conley family really wants to collaborate with several companies to bid for that piece of land." He placed the materials in front of Olivia. "This is the list of cooperators." Olivia looked through it. "These are a few medium-sized enterprises. They should find it difficult to secure development rights in Southmere. After all, if any of them encounter issues with their operating funds, they'll be toast." "Yes," Brady said solemnly, "but the Conley family is being very proactive and has been in contact with many companies regarding this matter." Olivia closed her eyes and pondered for a moment. "Yesterday, Chace mentioned to me that the Conley family is actually only interested in the land where the thermoelectric power plant is located. So they aren't concerned about the development and construction in other areas." It suddenly dawned on Brady. "The Conley family wants to first bid for this piece of land at a low price, and then sell it at a higher price, retaining only the development rights for the thermoelectric power plant. If that's the case, wouldn't others suffer a great loss?" "Although they won't suffer a great loss, it's certain that they won't make any money. The Conley family won't distribute the extra money. After all, they still need to develop the thermoelectric power plant." Olivia squinted her eyes. "And even if they invest their capital, the Conley family might not share profits with them. Those idiots." "But these companies seem to be on good terms with the Conley family. Maybe the Conley family won't do that," Brady said. "We can't let our guard down." Olivia's eyes darkened. "Have someone monitor the Conley family and then contact Mr. Doyle for me." "You mean Morgan Doyle?" Brady worried. "Miss Hampton, this man has a bad reputation. Maybe I should go see him instead." "If you go, he might not believe you," Olivia smirked. "Don't worry. I can protect myself." "Alright." Brady was about to leave. At that moment, a secretary walked in. "Miss Hampton, Mrs. Hampton rushed in." Olivia sneered, "Then let her in." Before she finished speaking, Julia entered, furious. "Olivia, who do you think you are? How dare you have the security guard stop me at the entrance and cancel my access card?" "Because I have already removed you from your position in the company," Olivia mocked. "You have no shares in the Hampton Group or no position. Why should I let you in?"
