Chapter Fifty-One - Willow
I’d never felt so much anger in my life.
Not after the rogue attack. The years of being motherless.
It was that time's infinity.
I felt my wolf mourning, curling into herself and tucking herself into a shell inside of me. Dad knew for months who killed my mother and he hadn’t said anything. He let me wonder. He let me hurt.
He never mentioned being a rogue.
He never mentioned so many things to me.
Chase held me tightly against his chest, and I attempted to listen to his heartbeat to calm down. But I felt so sad. I knew it wasn’t all Dad’s fault. He was saving Mom, and they retaliated.
But it felt like a betrayal. He could have told me months ago, and I could have helped him.
Tears coated my cheeks and Chase wiped them away. He picked me up into his arms and carried me to the couch. Sitting me in his lap, he smoothed his palms against my thigh and the other one ran over my head.
