Chapter Forty-Five - Willow
The minutes waiting for Rex to arrive with the rogue were nail-biting.
My wolf was hanging on by a thread. She’d been pushing the sketch into my head on repeat as if I needed a reminder.
The paper felt surreal in my fingertips.
All these years of not knowing and really knowing the entire time had my head feeling like it may explode. Chase stood up abruptly and looked up toward the window. “I think they’re here. Do you want to wait here?’ he asked.
I nodded. I wasn’t sure I could get up at the moment. Chase disappeared out of the door and I took a deep breath. Seconds turned into minutes when the door swung open and Rex carried the rogue in over his shoulder.
All I could see was her ebony-colored hair, and her lifeless body hanging over him. “What’s up,” he said casually, waiting for Chase to open the cell for him.
When he put her down on the bench, she swiftly jerked awake. She looked like a scared puppy looking at Rex backing out of the cell.
“Where am I?” she asked with a dry
