Makenna’s POV.
The city blurred into a vibrant combination of glass and steel as I navigated through the upscale streets of Storme City. The idea of surprising Wolfe at his office brought a flutter of excitement to my chest. I needed some inspiration for my next chapter—though, if I were honest, the inspiration was more for myself. It had only been two days since I last saw Wolfe, but it felt like a lifetime. Spending time with him over the weekend had been a soothing balm after a chaotic week I had.
Being with Wolfe felt like shedding a heavy cloak; I was lighter, freer, more myself. The realization was both thrilling and terrifying.
