CORNI'S POV
I dropped the box on the chair with the bag that had her shoes before placing my hand on her back and stroking it.
“What is it, baby? You can tell me.”
“Where were you? I was so scared!”
I could hear the desperation in her voice, and she sounded like she was about to cry.
And that was when it hit me: this was the first time we'd been apart in months, so it must have taken a toll on her.
“Were you scared that I left you? But for what reason? I still haven't had my revenge yet, and there's still your plan, which we have to do something about. I can never abandon you.” I said softly as she buried her face in my neck.
“I know, but my stupid brain refuses to believe that, and different thoughts and images have been going through my mind. I was scared that today was the day they'd find out my identity. I didn't want to attend the bonfire feast without you.”
