Chapter 4 Dilemma!

This was Arlo's first time in a police station. He didn't utter a word until he was locked in the detention room. He couldn't understand why Skyler would lie, why he ended up in the police station despite trying to help. Arlo suddenly remembered the words of his coworkers, suspecting that the middle-aged man was the rich man who was keeping Skyler. So, was it all because he had no money and no status? Sitting on the cold and hard floor of the detention room, a fire burned in Arlo's chest. In his mind, Skyler's silent apologies kept surfacing, and Arlo scoffed inwardly. Sleepiness gradually overwhelmed him, and Arlo leaned against the wall to rest his eyes. After dawn, the door of the detention room was opened. "Arlo, someone's here to bail you out. You can go now." Opening his eyes, Arlo asked puzzled, "Who bailed me out?" "You'll find out when you go outside." The police shrugged, their gaze at Arlo tinged with envy and jealousy. Arlo walked out of the police station in a daze and was startled to see a figure standing next to the red Mercedes at the entrance. It was the mature and sexy beautiful woman he had rescued yesterday! Unlike yesterday's corporate female powerhouse demeanor, today she was wearing a sky-blue camisole dress. She looked stunning and radiant, like a blooming water lily. "Did you bail me out?" "I'm Nora Marsh. So, were you bullied in there?" Nora smiled slightly, stepping forward and sizing up Arlo with her beautiful eyes. "I'm Arlo Johnson." Smelling the sweet fragrance emanating from her, Arlo unconsciously sniffed, "Thank you. How much is the bail?" Nora smiled charmingly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "You saved my life yesterday. I'm just spending some money; no need to thank me." With every gesture, the mature woman's unique charm and allure were fully displayed. Arlo's heart couldn't help but skip a beat. He stubbornly insisted, "No, my mom always said we should repay kindness." "You're really stubborn!" Nora chuckled, a moment of surprise passing over her. "Let's go, I'll treat you to morning tea." Arlo scratched his head and refused, "No need, I want to go home." Nora was somewhat surprised, her peach blossom eyes staring straight at him as if trying to figure out if Arlo was sincere. But after last night's ordeal, Arlo just wanted to go home and get some rest. Seeing Arlo's sincerity, Nora didn't insist further. She opened the car door and said, "Alright, I'll take you home." "I won't drive in, so I won't be escorting you inside." "Thank you, Ms. Marsh." Arlo sincerely thanked her, opening the car door to leave. "Wait!" Nora suddenly called out to him. "Do you plan to keep working as a mover in the furniture store forever?" Arlo chuckled at himself. "I have no education or skills, so I can only do this kind of labor." Nora thought for a moment. "My bar is hiring security. Come work for me!" Arlo hesitated. Although working as a mover in the furniture store was tough and tiring, the pay in Fleross wasn't bad. His original plan was to work as a mover for a couple of years, pay off the family's debts, then learn some skills and settle down in Fleross. And now Nora wanted him to work as a security guard, conflicting with his original plan. Seeing his hesitation, Nora didn't say much. She just added him on WhatsApp and gave him her personal number. "Think about it. Contact me when you've made up your mind." After saying that, she waved and drove away. Arlo stood there for a moment, then silently walked towards Urban Village. As soon as he stepped into the corridor of the rental house, he saw Skyler leaning against her door, asleep. Arlo looked at Skyler with a complex expression. There were still traces of tears on her face. Even though she was asleep, her eyebrows were still furrowed, as if she was dreaming of something unpleasant. His feelings towards Skyler were complicated. Emotionally, he had a soft spot for this cheerful and lively woman. But her lying in front of the police last night had hurt him deeply. Since childhood, his parents had told him that good deeds would be rewarded, but he had done a good deed and ended up in a police station. If it weren't for Nora, he might have had to stay in the police station for many more days. Sensing someone in front of her, Skyler opened her eyes. Seeing Arlo in front of her, she first felt joy, but then lowered her head apologetically. "Arlo, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Arlo looked at her deeply. "So what are you trying to say? That I should forgive you for lying?" "I..." Skyler opened her mouth, feeling aggrieved, tears rolling in her eyes. "I know it's all my fault, but I really had no choice. Can you listen to my explanation?" Arlo opened the door and shook his head. "You don't need to explain to me. We didn't have any relationship before." Skyler grabbed his hand, her emotions rising. "Arlo, please listen to me. I really had no choice but to lie!" Tears streamed down her cheeks. "My parents were reported for bribery and arrested. I need money to hire a lawyer. But as a student who hasn't graduated yet, where can I get the money? I had no choice!" Skyler's words made Arlo pause. He looked at her coldly. "Are you telling the truth?" "Really, I can swear, Arlo!" Skyler nodded vigorously, afraid that Arlo wouldn't believe her. She hurriedly swore, "I swear if I'm lying, let me die!" Arlo remained silent for a few seconds before saying, "Your parents getting caught for bribery is their karma, but selling your body for them, do you think it's right?" "No, it's not true! My parents were framed!" Skyler shook her head vigorously, tears falling even more heavily. "My parents always hated bribery, how could they possibly bribe anyone?" Skyler's sincere gaze convinced Arlo, and he sighed, "So what's your relationship with that scumbag? Is he paying you to be with him?" "No, no, Ruben is my dad's classmate and business partner. He said as long as I become his mistress, he'll hire the best lawyers in the country to help me with the lawsuit." Skyler's eyes were filled with pain as tears streamed down her face. "But I found out a few days ago that he's the one who falsely accused my parents! His goal is to take over my parents' company! I want to cut ties with him, but he's not planning to let me go!" Arlo's heart softened completely. He knew Skyler was also a victim of fate. Seeing his softened attitude, Skyler began to undress herself. By the time Arlo snapped out of his daze, Skyler was already completely naked. Her fair skin was like porcelain, momentarily stunning him. "What, what are you doing? Quickly put your clothes back on!" But Skyler not only didn't put her clothes back on, she gathered her courage and hugged Arlo. "Arlo, I liked you from the moment I first saw you. I was planning to cut ties with Ruben and be with you. But now that you know everything, I swear I haven't done anything with Ruben! I'm still pure!"
