Chapter 65 The prom.
The prom was everything we’d hoped it would be. The gymnasium had been transformed into a glittering ballroom, complete with twinkling lights, a dance floor, and a DJ spinning the latest hits. Maya and I spent the night dancing, laughing, and forgetting about the world outside. It was perfect—until it wasn’t.
As the night wore on, I could feel the wolf inside me stirring, pushing against the boundaries I’d set. My skin tingled, my senses sharpened, and it became harder to focus on the music, on the people around me. I excused myself from the dance floor, telling Maya I needed some air.
I stepped outside into the cool night, taking deep breaths to calm myself. The moon was full, its light casting an eerie glow over the school grounds. I knew I had to keep it together, just for a little while longer.
