The moon hung high in the sky, its soft glow filtering through the canopy of trees as we settled into the small clearing. The pack was weary, their faces lined with exhaustion and worry, but there was a sense of relief in the air. We had managed to escape the hunters, and for now, we were safe. But I knew this was only a temporary reprieve. The real challenge would come when we had to return to Ashwood and face the hunters again.
Noah, ever the leader, was already making plans. He had gathered the pack around him, his voice low and steady as he spoke. “We need to get Elsa back home before dawn,” he said, his gaze flicking toward her. “The hunters will be looking for her, and the longer she stays with us, the more danger she’s in.”
Elsa nodded, her expression serious. “I understand. But how do we get past the hunters? They’ll be watching the roads, and they know this area better than we do.”
Noah smiled, a hint of pride in his eyes. “We’ll take the back trails. There’s a route I know
