Chapter 29 The Looming Threat.
The relief of having Noah back was palpable, but the atmosphere in the Ashwood pack’s headquarters remained tense. Despite our success in rescuing him, we knew that the hunters were still out there, planning their next move. The sense of impending danger hung over us like a dark cloud.
After the rescue, Noah was recuperating, and I found myself spending more time by his side. Seeing him so vulnerable was difficult, but it also made me more determined to protect our pack.
"Noah, what do we do now?" I asked one evening, sitting by his bedside. The room was quiet, the only sound the crackling of the fire in the hearth.
Noah looked at me, his eyes filled with a mixture of pain and resolve. "We need to prepare, Jessica. The hunters won’t stop until they’ve destroyed us. We need to be ready for their next move."
I nodded, feeling the weight of his words. “I’ve been having these dreams…visions, really. They might be warnings about the hunters.”
