Luke had thought Janice's full confession would be enough to dissipate the bad feeling he had been plagued with ever since noticing the shadiness around the office, but unfortunately, it was not.
Despite how much she had already shared, he still felt like there was something more. He couldn't just believe she was telling the whole truth, and that was understandable because total honesty and transparency weren't exactly her forte.
He abruptly halted the swiveling chair, stood up, and went to the door towards his secretary's office.
She jumped up as soon as she saw him, visibly shaken by his presence. Luke took a moment to convince himself that he had done the right thing by not firing her immediately after all she had confessed. He needed her on his side, and tossing her out of the job wouldn't help him do that.
"Sir…Mr. Davis, is there something I can help you with?" She stuttered as she struggled to maintain eye contact with him.
