Chris was unimpressed. ‘Ah, yes, the old carrot-and-stick approach. I’m sure Ms Fontaine will be thrilled to know her safety can be bought off with a few baubles and business favours.’
He looked straight at Richard, a glint of steel in his eyes. ‘Mr Griffith, let me be clear. Ms Fontaine will not be bullied, intimidated, or coerced. The law will decide your son’s fate, not your backroom deals and veiled threats. Instead of wasting your time here, I suggest you use it to find a good lawyer for your son. He’s going to jail for sure, but you could try and make his time inside a bit more comfortable.’
Richard flushed, his eyes narrowing. ‘You insolent pup! Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?’
Chris’s smile was like ice. ‘Oh, I believe I do. You’re a desperate father trying to shield a spoiled son. And while I understand your concern, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have more important things to attend to.’
He turned on his heel, leaving Richard sputter
