Reaching for her phone, Elodie unlocked it and saw the message sent at the crack of dawn: ‘Chris, I’m not going to work today. Call me if something urgent comes up. Otherwise, you are in charge. Just don’t go making any crazy decisions like switching the office coffee to decaf, or I might have to revoke your boss-for-a-day privileges.’
‘The text even sounds like me.’ Elodie shook her head, amazed.
Ari just smiled.
‘But what about your work?’ she asked. ‘Don’t you have some billionaire-dollar deals waiting to be struck?’
‘There’s nothing more important than spending time with you today, Elodie,’ he murmured. ‘Everything else can wait.’
She met his eyes, his tender smile sending a flutter through her heart.
Yet, a niggling question lingered in her mind.
‘How did you know my phone password?’
Ari’s lips twitched. ‘Did you forget that I’m a bit of a hacker, too? I told you that before.’
Elodie’s mind raced.
