Chapter 29
Cecilia felt herself going limp, her head too heavy to lift, as if sinking into a deep haze. Amidst the blur, a flash of white light pierced through her brow.
Her brow felt heavy and uncomfortable, breathing shallow. There was a sensation of blurred lines between past and present, as she tumbled into boundless realms of dreams.
Eleven years ago, on another summer day, Cecilia was asleep in her dormitory. It was late at night, yet the door was abruptly kicked open from the outside.
It was her classmate.
"Cecilia, the teacher said you need to check the hygiene in the teaching building."
Cecilia didn't think much of it. She changed her clothes, grabbed a flashlight, and left the dormitory. The night outside was stifling, with few people on the road, and the path was unusually quiet. There were few people in the teaching building. After she finished checking, she was stopped at the staircase.
