Chapter 4
Lucas' POV
I approached Louisa.
I couldn't believe this tiny, pale woman standing in front of me was capable of doing something so mean to such an innocent girl like Jessica.
To my surprise, Louisa didn't want to flinch.
Her olive-colored eyes were filled with angery tears.
But there wasn't any fear.
Why isn't she afraid of me? I frowned and thought to myself. I saw thugs pissing themselves when they were confronted by me. Does she even know what I used to do for a living?
"Tell me what really happened." I said in a low voice.
"I've already told you what happened. You weren't listening." Louisa replied in a determined voice. "I didn't pour anything on Jessica. She was complaining about the tea I made and she poured the tea all over herself. I might be a lousy tea brewer, but I'm not a liar."
Again. No fear.
There are a lot of things about this woman that annoy me, but telling lies isn't one of them.
As we were staring at each other, Jessica stepped in and said, "Oh, come on, Luke. Just give her a break. She must be really terrified right now..."
"I'm not terrified," Louisa interrupted her. "I didn't do anything wrong and I didn't lie. Why do I have to be terrified?"
Jessica raised her eyebrows.
She does that when she's mad.
"What?!" She crossed her arms and said. "Are you insinuating that I'm a liar?!"
"I'm not insinuating anything." Louisa said without looking at Jessica. "My husband asked me a question and I told him the truth. It's a conversation between us and I don't think it has anything to do with you."
Her voice was steady and calm.
Who is this woman? How dare she be this rude in front of me?
Jessica's face turned red because of anger.
She was too angry to say anything.
My mother raised her voice, "Ah, Luke! How can you allow your wife to insult our guest like this?"
I commanded Louisa, "Apologize to Jessica."
"For what?!" Louisa challenged me.
"For what you've done to Jessica. For your rudeness and disobedience." I replied.
"I will not apologize for what I haven't done," Louisa said in a firm voice. "I don't have to be obedient to you. I am your wife, not your slave!"
Everyone was shocked in the room.
The tension in the air was so thick that I could cut it with a knife.
She was the first woman who dared to openly disobey me like this.
Her rebellion was totally off grid.
I had to teach her a lesson.
But my mother reacted faster.
"You shameless little bitch!" She raised her hand high up in the air.
I knew she was about to slap Louisa.
I stretched out my arm, grabbed her hand, and stopped her.
"Luke, what the hell are you doing?" My mother looked shocked. "This bitch is out of control and she's humiliating you in front of all of us!"
I didn't let go of his mother's hand.
"Mother," I cleared his voice and said in a deep, pressing voice, "Louisa is my wife. Nobody touches her except me. And I do prefer that nobody uses that B-word in my house."
My mother looked hurt.
She whimpered while Jessica was holding her arms, looking at Louisa with hatred.
I noticed some red marks on Louisa's forearms.
I immediately knew my mother was torturing her while I was away.
I cleared my voice and said to my bodyguards, "Take Miss Torrington upstairs and lock her up."
"Yes, boss!" my bodyguards replied.
"No," Louisa said without taking my eyes off me. "I won't go upstairs. I'm not done with my husband."
At that moment, I couldn't hold my anger anymore.
"But I'm fucking done with you!" I roared, grabbed the teapot from the table, and smashed it on the floor.
Crash!
The teapot broke into pieces right in front of Louisa.
A shatter jumped up and cut her arm.
Blood came out of the wound, but it seemed that she couldn't care less.
She just stood there, bitting her lips, letting the blood drip down her arms.
She looked so hurt and alone.
Jessica smacked her lips.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. It seems something has been broken," she gloated.
At that time, Louisa bluntly pushed the bodyguards away and grabbed the kettle from the stove.
Before anyone could stop her, she had already poured the entire kettle of water over Jessica's head.
Jessica became red and wet head to toe.
In her screaming, I heard Louisa's fearless voice -
"Now that I've poured drinks on you, you fucking bitch!"
Then, she threw the kettle at Jessica.
