SUZIE’S POV
The carriage whipped by a few tall trees, and my eyes remained fixed on them. The early morning breeze blew threw the open window, gracing my skin. I let out a sigh, holding my chest to feel for my heartbeat. It was rapid and it kept racing as seconds passed by.
My eyes flickered from the window, to Leon, who was seated opposite me. He was poised, his legs crossed and in his hands was a small book that I perceived to be a journal of some sort. His eyes were glued to the small journal and he seemed totally engrossed in it.
For some reason, his whole demeanour was rather entrancing to me, and I could not take my eyes away from me. There was a mysterious air around him, and that drew me to him. I had a lot of questions to ask, but the last thing I wanted to do was seem like a prying lady.
In a split second, Leon looked up from his book, and his eyes met mine. I jerked back a little from the unexpected movement and averted my eyes back to the window.
