I held my breath as I waited for her to react.
Blurting it out was not how I had planned to tell her. Nate had offered to tell her the news, but I felt it was important that I be the one to tell her that. I killed Dorothy after all.
We had tried to talk to her. Giving her a chance to make things right. She would have been locked up but her chances of being freed if she cooperated were high.
But the moment I turned my back, she tried to kill me.
I reacted.
I killed our mother to protect myself, my brothers, my mate, and any future children we might have.
It was better this way. That was what Nate told me after he had covered her body. We would never have to worry about her ever again.
But it didn’t make it hurt any less.
She was our mother, and I had killed her as if she was nothing.
It wasn’t like she had smothered us with love. She was never a mother to us.
But she had been our blood.
