67. ANGEL
“Deal,” Lucas said softly. “I have some papers I need you to read through and sign while I make a few calls. If all goes well, you will be my legal wife before lunch tomorrow."
I smiled at him, but unease filled me at the mention of the papers he wanted me to sign. Nothing good ever came from those words.
Lucas placed me next to him and scooted to the edge of the couch to pick up a file from the coffee table. He opened it and held it out towards me.
I hesitated a moment before I took it from him.
“Don’t look so worried,” he said softly. “It’s nothing bad. I want to ensure that you are taken care of if anything ever happens to me, Nate, or Mason. I’m not saying it will, but I want to be prepared. You’ve met our parents.”
My eyes darted over the words on the paper.
“Everything we own now belongs to you as well. If we die, they can’t revoke your title, kick you out of the castle, or kill you. This will be your home until the day you die.”
