28. ANGEL
Despite the late night, I was up early the next morning because I couldn’t sleep. Mason’s words kept replaying over and over in my mind.
I got up and made my way over to the window.
Pulling the curtain aside, I glanced outside. Snow blanketed the ground and the flowers, but despite that, I still itched to go for a walk.
I dressed in the warmest clothes I could find and then snuck out of the castle as quietly as I could.
Cold air blasted me the moment I stepped out of the castle. Wrapping an arm around my waist, I debated on going back inside, but a lone figure walking through the garden caught my attention.
I nearly slipped the moment I stepped onto the snow, but I managed to regain my balance before I could fall.
Lucas seemed to sense me approaching him because his steps slowed until he came to a full stop. He turned slightly and smiled at me.
“You’re up early,” he muttered.
“Couldn’t sleep,” I told him.
