Chapter 10
Finally, Gabriella turned off the vacuum cleaner. She looked around and felt contented when the house was fully cleaned.
Izaak left in the morning, and the house had been peaceful since then, which she was thankful for. Her hair became messy, and she was drenched in sweat. She wasn’t the most beautiful girl, but she had a charm and warmth that people found irresistible.
Turning back inadvertently, she jerked when she suddenly noticed a tall man standing by the wall, gawking at her like an owl perch in the dark, stealthy and ready to strike.
“Why are you back? Did you forget something?” she blurted out in surprise.
He raised a take-out bag. Gabriella instantly recognized the take-out bag's label.
“Crab porridge from Martha’s. It’s your favorite.”
Gabriella was stunned in place. Getting to Martha’s Porridge Shop and then back to their house would take more than three hours by car. He was gone for that approximate time.
‘Did he travel for three hours just to get that?’ Gabriella exclaimed
