Chapter 464
We had been rescued.
One of the rescuers was the same driver who had taken me to visit Derick in the detention center. I knew he worked for Brandon.
The car was severely damaged, and they had to break it apart to rescue Chris and the driver. They also found our phones, including Chris'.
"Hey, this one is still connected," the rescuer said, handing me the phone.
But it wasn't my phone—it was Chris'. I had used it to call Brandon earlier, and I wondered if he had been on the line the whole time.
I took the phone, still in shock, and looked at the screen. The call had just ended, with a duration of 12 minutes. Brandon had been on the line the entire time. Had he heard everything Chris and I had said?
But we hadn't said much, had we?
I didn't have time to think about it further, as I was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment. After a series of tests, I was relieved to find that I had only suffered minor injuries. Chris and the driver, however, were in critical condition.
