Helen turned around and stepped into the elevator, quickly pressing the close-door button. She just wanted to escape—there was no need to see him again, no reason for them to cross paths anymore.
Julien didn't follow her, afraid of scaring her further. Standing in the cold, he watched the elevator doors slowly close, shutting her away from him. He closed his eyes, overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness.
