Marcus' anger flared even more. "Don't act all high and mighty!"
Julien's cold gaze settled on Marcus. It was his first time meeting the younger man, who was about Helen's age and full of fiery energy—a stark contrast to Julien's composed demeanor.
Julien's lips curved into a faint, mocking smile. "I'm not letting it go for your sake. I'm doing it for Lennie."
He simply didn't want to make things harder for her.
"You have no damn right to call her Lennie! You piece of trash! Do you even realize what you've done to her?" Marcus was nearly hysterical, and the police had to hold him down, repeatedly warning him to calm down and reminding him that the station wasn't a place for shouting.
Helen turned to Julien. "Can you step outside for a moment? I want to talk to him."
Julien's dark, unreadable eyes flicked to her face. She felt his gaze and quickly looked away, unable to meet his eyes. Her expression softened slightly.
